I agree wholeheartedly with the praise for the lighter weight and open source direction of Chinese AI development. I suggested something similar to Deepseek prior to its going public as the architecture and reasons for it were quite familiar in the hedge fund world but it ran counter to the trajectory of US development at the time. Siemens is also doing wonderful things with real world industrial AI in India and elsewhere...
